For United States military personnel the GI Bill of Rights offers educational benefits that can be extremely useful and offer servicemen an advantage in further their education in order to increase their earning potential and advance their personal careers. However, many veterans and people who are currently serving in the military are unaware of what exactly they can use the GI Bill benefits to pay for.
For active duty military personnel and reserve military personnel you can use your GI Bill benefits for:
1. Attending any college classes that are leading towards a degree such as an Associate’s Degree, a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree, or a Ph.D.
2. Attending any vocational or technical training that leads to a certificate or degree.
3. 55% of correspondence training can be paid for through the GI Bill.
4. Internet training or on-line classes that are independent study can be paid for with GI Bill benefits.

More Uses for the GI Bill
5. If you have a pilot license and a medical certificate that is currently valid you can use the GI Bill benefit to pay for flight training.
6. Up to $2,000 for certification and or licensing to pay for an exam, even if you do not pass the exam.
7. Up to 60% of the cost of high tech and high cost courses can be paid through your GI Bill benefits. This benefit is only offered to active duty military personnel.
8. Certain entrepreneur classes that are offered through the National Veterans Business Development Center or the Small Business Development Center.
9. Apprenticeship trade training or on-the-job training that covers up to 85% for the first six months, 65% for the second six month period of time, and 45% for any span of time after the first twelve months until the completion of your training. In most cases you also receive payment or a salary from the employer you are training with.
